CE CE 2024-02-01 - 00:57 UTC
To showcase and pilot Doug Engelbart's notion of fast, fluid hyperdocument system features, aimed at "augmenting human intellect" and "bootstrapping our Collective IQ"* in teams, organizations, and networked initiatives to yield more brilliant outcomes -- tackling important challenges -- collectively.

INTRODUCTION
CE CE 2024-02-01 - 00:50 UTC
"MiniAug" offers essential features largely missing in today's knowledge ecosystems, what Doug Engelbart identified as the "critical missing piece" in the technology, called for in his 'Open Hyperdocument System' paradigm .
CE CE 2024-02-01 - 02:15 UTC
Namely a rich array of easy-to-learn options for editing and viewing documents to suit the moment, as opposed to a one-size-fits-all view of a document formatted to fit beautifully in a rectangle that you can stretch or scroll or search, or edit with an archaic cut-and-paste paradigm. Doug used "hyper" to mean enhanced and richly turbo featured, as well as linkable.
CE CE 2024-02-03 - 14:55 UTC
Such features should be universally available to you wherever you are in the knowledgesphere, across all apps and organizational domains, via a wide range of user interface options. Disolving knowledge silos. What doug meant by "open" hyperdocument systems.
CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:43 UTC
This version of MiniAug sports a command-driven user interface to interact more deeply with the working knowledge, designed for user ease, speed, and efficiency, while offering a streamlined learning curve from beginner to expert.

COMMANDS
CE CE 2024-02-01 - 01:44 UTC
MiniAug commands are "natural-language style" like talking to Siri or Alexa, but instead of "Get directions" or "Call so-and-so!" you tell it to Jump somewhere or Delete something with just a few simple keystrokes and mouseclicks.
CE CE 2024-02-01 - 02:25 UTC
MiniAug commands typically pair an action Verb like "Delete", with a Noun naming the object you are targeting. So for example to Delete a word, you type "dw" and MiniAug fills out "Delete Word" and prompts you to select the word to be deleted, you click anywhere in the word to select it, and OK to go.
CE CE 2024-02-01 - 02:34 UTC
All you had to do was "dw" click OK, while it prompts you along with visual feedback.
CE CE 2024-02-01 - 02:34 UTC
When several command word choices start with the same letter, like Copy and Create, for the more commonly used Copy you type a "c" and for Create you type "cr".

Prompts -- tell you what to do next:
CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:44 UTC
"OK:" is prompting you to give the OK with a single mouse click "T:" means you can now Typein your input , ending with OK "M:" to select or "Mark" something by pointing with a single click "V:" to specify a View (see <8> below) "A:" to enter an Address like a purple number or name (see <7> below) A slash "/" in the prompt is for multiple choice, for example "M/T:" shows you can either Mark or Type your input.

SAMPLE SESSION
CE CE 2024-02-03 - 16:48 UTC
First get a feel for the basics in the hands-on tutorial
CE CE 2024-02-03 - 16:50 UTC
Then try the following -- note if at any time you type the wrong character or click on the wrong thing, just press or key to back up and pick up where that leaves you.
CE CE 2024-02-03 - 16:25 UTC
OPEN A NEW WINDOW: Type "ow" for "Open Window OK:" and give the OK; drag your new window next to this one
CE CE 2024-02-03 - 16:26 UTC
CREATE NEW FILE: In your new window, enter "crf" for "Create File (to be named) M/T:" type a filename and give the OK
CE CE 2024-02-03 - 16:29 UTC
START INSERTING: Type "is" for "Insert Statement (to follow statement at) M:" click on the filename, at the "L:" prompt type "d" for down a level, at the T: prompt type your heading: "My First Insert", ending with OK
CE CE 2024-02-03 - 16:32 UTC
NEXT INSERT: Type "is" for "Insert Statement (to follow statement at) M:" click anywhere on "My First Insert", at the "L:" prompt type "d" for Down a level, at the T: prompt type your first paragraph (don't worry about typos as you go, just type): "Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of their country.", ending with OK
CE CE 2024-02-03 - 16:37 UTC
FIRST EDIT: Change your heading to "My First Session" - type "rw" for "Replace Word (at) M:" , click anywhere on the word "Insert", at the "T:" prompt type the new word "Session" ending with the OK
CE CE 2024-02-03 - 16:38 UTC
MORE EDITS: Using the above VERBS and NOUNS, fix any typos and play with the wording in your file -- for example: Insert Text, Delete Character, Copy Statement , Transpose Words, ... think up your own combinations
CE CE 2024-02-03 - 17:03 UTC
SAVE YOUR WORK: Type "u" for "Update (file) OK:" and give the OK
CE CE 2024-02-20 - 17:49 UTC
CHECK OUT HIDDEN STUFF: While you were creating and editing, MiniAug was creating useful info that's normally hidden. Change your view to show these now -- enter "sev" for "Set Viewspecs V:", enter "mJK" (matching upper/lower case), ending with OK. You will see 'Purple Numbers' reflecting your outline structure, and 'Statement Signatures' indicating for each statement who inserted or last edited and when. To hide the Statement Signatures, use Set Viewspecs V:, enter "L". To switch between the outline style Purple Numbers and permalink style Purple Numbers, use Set Viewspecs V:, enter "I" or "J". To show or hide anchor Names created for you automatically, use Set Viewspecs V:, enter "C" or "D".
CE CE 2024-02-20 - 18:17 UTC
USE HIDDEN STUFF: Using the Jump Link command you can jump by Number or Name -- in the following type a Purple Number or Name in place of "xxaddressxx" -- enter "jl" for "Jump Link (to) M/A:", enter your "xxaddressxx", ending with OK. HELPFUL HINT: You can use them in a Link whether they are showing or hidden. See ADDRESSING and LINKS below for more.
CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:44 UTC
ADDRESSING
CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:44 UTC
Basic Addressing: The "A:" prompt is for "Address" -- you can address a file or any item in a file, using the following optional elements, in this order:
CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:44 UTC
1. Optional filename followed by a comma
CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:44 UTC
2. Optional address number aka "Purple Number" (choose one)
CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:44 UTC
- Location Numbers like 2c1 are hierarchical, change dynamically
CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:44 UTC
- Statement Identifiers or "SIDs" never change
CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:44 UTC
NOTE: to view the file with these showing, see Viewspecs below <079>

CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:44 UTC
Any Address you can type in a Jump Link command, you can place in a link to click on for future Jump Link commands, a link is encased in angle brackets or parens - for example:

CE CE 2024-02-03 - 15:10 UTC
CE CE 2024-01-20 - 16:44 UTC
